New Summer Signings
Bristol Rovers have already added 11 players to their squad for the 2026/27 season. The arrivals include Richie Smallwood, Kofi Balmer, Ben Purrington, Tommy Leigh (on loan), Tom James, Ciarán Kelly, Bobby Kamwa, Jack Aitchison, Charlie Binns, Keenan Gough (on loan) and Reiss Russell‑Denny (on loan). Maverick Moves
After a dramatic 5‑3 victory over Newport County, manager Steve Evans said the club is “well aware of two or three mavericks” they would like to sign. He added that the 12th summer signing is likely to be a winger who can operate on both sides and will be with the club on Monday. Evans remarked that the new player “no one will know him unless they go and look at some of his footage on YouTube,” but that once seen, he will prove to be a valuable addition.
Evans also spoke of the possibility of a “maverick” signing at the end of the transfer window, similar to Tommy Leigh’s arrival on Deadline Day on February 2. He said the club’s chairman and directors are aware of these potential moves and are “well aware of two or three mavericks that we would love to bring into the football club.”

Rovers’ next match is an EFL Trophy tie against Chelsea Under‑21s at The Mem on Tuesday evening. The club will then travel to Crawley Town in League Two on Saturday. A home game against Colchester United is scheduled for Tuesday, September 1, kicking off at 7:45 pm, with the summer transfer window deadline at 11 pm the same day.
