Bristol Rovers’ manager Steve Evans said the club had to make "tough decisions" this summer. In addition to Moore, Josh McEachran also left by mutual consent. The club had listed seven players in May; Luke Southwood, Jed Ward, Kamil Conteh, Isaac Hutchison and Luke Southwood have secured permanent moves, while Macauley Southam-Hales remains the only player still available for transfer or loan.
Club reaction and next fixtures
In a statement released on Friday, the club thanked Moore for his efforts and wished him well. A day after his departure, the Gas beat Newport County 5-3 at The Mem, securing their first win of the 2026/27 season. The next match is an EFL Trophy game against Chelsea Under-21s on Tuesday, followed by a League Two fixture at Crawley Town on Saturday.
Transfer window outlook
With eight days left in the summer transfer window, Rovers have already made 11 signings and are likely to add a maximum of two more players. Manager Evans hinted that a new signing would arrive on Monday, but the club has yet to reveal the player’s identity.
The club’s chairman has been described by Evans as making "firm decisions" about squad composition. The board ultimately decides on player retention, while the manager provides recommendations.
The club will now face Chelsea Under-21s in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday.
