Bristol Rovers lost 3-1 to Crewe Alexandra on Friday night, a result that extends their poor run of away form. The defeat at Gresty Road was their fourth in five matches on the road this season.
Jack Lankester gave the hosts a lead after just 40 seconds, converting a cross from Joel Tabiner. The Crewe forward doubled the advantage from the penalty spot midway through the first half after Alfie Kilgour was penalised for pulling down Luke Offord. Jordan Gibson added a third for Crewe after the break, assisted by Josh March.
Bobby Kamwa scored a late consolation for Bristol Rovers in stoppage time, finishing from a Clinton Mola pass. The visitors had chances, with Adrien Thibaut denied by a last-ditch block from Jack Sparkes and Ciaran Kelly hitting the underside of the crossbar. The goal came in the 92nd minute, a fact that shows the team's struggle to convert pressure into goals earlier in the match.
The result leaves Bristol Rovers fifth in League Two with 15 points from nine games. They are now one point behind leaders Salford City but have played a game more.
Crewe manager Steve Evans watched the match from the stands while serving a touchline ban. Bristol Rovers' staff also faced similar restrictions.
Bristol Rovers will now prepare for a key home fixture against second-placed Barnet on Saturday, October 10th. The match at the Memorial Stadium is scheduled for a 3:00 PM kickoff. Their full upcoming schedule is available on our fixtures page.
