Tom Lockyer has joined Australian A-League side Melbourne Victory. The 31-year-old defender, who played 19 games in all competitions for Rovers last season, is yet to feature for his new team. He was an unused substitute in their Australia Cup win over Kingborough Lions and missed the next round with muscle stiffness. Lockyer had rejoined Rovers in October 2025 for a second spell under manager Darrell Clarke.
Where did Luke Thomas and Joel Senior go?
Luke Thomas moved to Scottish Premiership club St Mirren on August 1. The winger, who contributed 13 goals and 21 assists in 158 Rovers appearances, has already made two substitute appearances for his new side. He came on in wins against Falkirk and St Johnstone. Thomas was part of the Joey Barton-led side that won automatic promotion to League One in the 2021/22 season.
Joel Senior signed for Tranmere Rovers after his contract at Bristol Rovers was not renewed. The right-back, who made 58 appearances across two seasons, wanted to move closer to his family. He played the full 90 minutes in Tranmere's Carabao Cup defeat to Rochdale on August 1. Senior was a key part of Rovers' nine-match unbeaten run to end last season.
How have other departures started?
Kamil Conteh joined League One newcomers Bromley after being transfer-listed in May. The Sierra Leone international midfielder made his official debut on August 8, playing the full match in a penalty shootout defeat to Reading in the Carabao Cup. Conteh scored his spot-kick in the shootout. He had spent the second half of last season on loan at Lincoln City, making one appearance as they won promotion to the Championship.
Goalkeeper Jed Ward moved to Walsall and made a stunning debut against Bristol City. He made 10 saves in a 1-0 win at Ashton Gate. The 23-year-old, who impressed on loan at Yeovil Town last season, is aiming to establish himself as a first-choice keeper in the EFL.
Isaac Hutchinson's transfer saga ended when he joined Doncaster Rovers for a six-figure fee on July 20. The attacking midfielder made his debut in a Carabao Cup match against Stockport County but was substituted at half-time. Hutchinson had shown his best form while on loan at Cheltenham Town during his time with Rovers.
Who is still without a club?
Josh McEachran is the only summer departure still seeking a new team. The 33-year-old midfielder left Bristol Rovers by mutual consent last week after 23 appearances across two seasons. He had been made available for transfer or loan by manager Steve Evans in May.
